Bill Saxelby
Chief Executive Officer
Bill Saxelby has been a public and private CEO and Board of Directors member of global medical device manufacturing companies over a 35-year career. Bill is a proven leader who has a strong track record of creating shareholder value in both large corporate and entrepreneurial businesses. Bill brings extensive global medical device commercial strategy development and product commercialization experience.
Kiernan DeAngelis, MD
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Kiernan DeAngelis has over 11 years in the pharmaceutical industry and has been part of global submissions to the FDA, EMA, NMPA and PMDA. Prior to joining EmitBio, he has worked with AstraZeneca, Humacyte, Pearl Therapeutics and United Therapeutics. Kiernan is a board-certified Emergency Physician.
Jacob Kocher, Ph.D.
Director of Virology
Dr. Kocher has 6 years of industry experience in the areas of visible light-based antiviral therapeutics and vaccine development. He conducted his post-doctorial training in the Gillings School of Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chappel Hill. His post-doctorial work was with betacoronaviruses ( MERS-CoV and SARS-CoV ). He obtained his Ph.D. in Bio-medical and Veterinary Sciences at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University studying norovirus.
Tammy Carrea, MS
Vice President of Quality, Regulatory and Clinical Affairs
Tammy Carrea has over 30 years of experience in medical device development and commercialization, both domestically and internationally, and has been responsible for submissions and registrations for Class 1, 2, and 3 medical devices including De Novo and orphan devices. Her experience includes previous roles with Titan Medical, Baebies and TransEnterix prior to joining EmitBio’s parent company, KNOW Bio.
Doug Stevens
Director of Operations
Doug Stevens has over 30 years of experience in global supply chain management, manufacturing, and new product introduction. His deep expertise in optimizing supply chain processes and introducing innovative products has been developed in roles at Cree, Sony Ericsson and Roli prior to joining EmitBio.
Matt Womble
Director of Engineering
Matt Womble has over 19 years in the medical device industry, focusing on development of novel medical devices from concept to commercialization. His experience addressing clinical needs with simple, safe, and effective solutions was built through roles at Robling Medical, Baxano Surgical and 20/20 Technology prior to joining EmitBio.
Darlene Dendy
Vice President of Administration
Darlene Dendy is the Vice President of Administration at KNOW Bio. She manages daily operations to ensure the business runs smoothly and operates efficiently. She creates and implements Human Resource policies, manages investor relations, and manages corporate communication for KNOW Bio CEO and CFO. Before joining KNOW Bio she served as the Executive Assistant for the Chairman and CEO of Cree, Inc. Darlene studied Business Administration at Western Carolina University and holds a North Carolina Real Estate Broker’s License.

John Demos has over 20 years of experience managing legal affairs and patent filing, licensing and litigation. His experience includes previous roles with Cree, Scenera and McNair Law Firm prior to joining EmitBio's parent company, KNOW Bio.

The founder of Essential Health. Having practiced innovative primary care medicine for 30 years, Dr. Stevens has worked in various conventional primary care settings, including group private practice and as a hospital-employed physician and physician leader. As Chief Innovation Officer at Essential Holding Company, the licensor and management affiliate for Essential Health, Dr. Stevens is a part of a growing effort to seek, refine, and introduce new knowledge and methods to Essential health Clinics in a constant quest to provide an avenue towards better health for those they serve. As a primary care provider, Dr. Stevens has managed thousands of patients over 30 years.
Hamid Bakhteyar, PharmD, RPh, FACA

Dr. Bakhteyar is the Founder, CEO, and Chief Pharmacist at Carolina Compounding Pharmacy & Health Center. He earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the prestigious School of Pharmacy at Campbell University. He has successfully completed specialized compounding courses by American College of Apothecaries, Medisca Network, Fagron, Dr. John R. Lee Institute, and PCCA. He has earned a certificate in the Science of Pharmaceutical Compounding from the University of Florida College of Pharmacy.
Additionally, Dr. Hamid is certified in Women’s Health Issues, Pain Management, and Genetic Drug Counseling. He is also a Certified First Line Therapy (FLT) Healthcare Provider and is experienced in Age-Management Medicine. He has earned a US Patent on formulating long-acting liothyronine (T-3). Dr. Hamid has gained valuable knowledge and experience in Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy during more than two decades of working collaboratively with other healthcare providers and serving thousands of patients.
O. Josh Bloom, MD, MPH, CAQSM

Dr. Bloom is a partner physician and Medical Director at Carolina Family Practice and Sports Medicine and the Carolina Sports Concussion Clinic. As a primary care provider, Dr. Bloom has managed thousands of patients over 20 years. Dr. Bloom is a Clinical Associate in the Departments of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine and the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Duke University School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Bloom is the Co-Chief Medical Officer and Head Team Physician, for USA Baseball and provides supervision / oversight of medical care and services for all USA Baseball National Teams. Lastly, Dr. Bloom is the Medical Director and Head Medical Team Physician for the Carolina Hurricanes of the NHL. As a primary care provider, Dr. Bloom has managed thousands of patients over 20 years.
James "Jim" G. Blount, MD, CAQSM

Dr. Blount is a founder and partner physician of Carolina Family Practice & Sports Medicine. He and his partners provide care for patients of all ages and all levels of athletics with an approach that is patient-centric, holistic, evidence based, and cost-effective. He is board certified in Family medicine and has a certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. Dr. Blount is the Community Site Director for the UNC Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship as Clinical Adjunct Faculty, Department of Family and Community Medicine. He is a Medical Team Physician for the Carolina Hurricanes. Lastly, Dr. Blount is team physician for Green Hope High School. As a primary care provider, Dr. Blount has managed thousands of patients over 20 years.
Todd J. Harris D.O.

Dr. Harris brings nearly 30 years of primary care and urgent care experience to our Advisory Board. Board certified in both family and functional medicine; he has developed a strong expertise in comprehensive care. For many years, he served as a clinical instructor and student preceptor at the University of Washington School of Medicine, contributing to the education of future healthcare professionals. Currently, he is the lead physician at Essential Health in Bozeman, where he delivers healthcare that integrates the best of conventional, functional, and integrative medicine. His holistic approach addresses patients’ health concerns with a focus on prevention, personalized treatment plans, and building strong patient-provider relationships. Additionally, Dr. Harris oversees a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, ensuring high-quality care for all patients. As a primary care provider, Dr. Harris has managed thousands of patients over 30 years.
James G. Joachim, M.D., F.A.C.N.

Dr. James Joachim is a Primary Care Internist & Medical Nutritionist currently practicing Regenerative, Integrative & Functional Medicine in San Diego, California. He attended Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri and completed Medical School at Northeastern University School of Medicine in Tampico, Mexico. He then completed his Internal Medicine Residency at NYU Medical Center-New York Hospital, Queens Center in NYC and completed an NIH funded Fellowship in Clinical & Medical Nutrition at UC- Davis, Sacramento Medical Center. He has dedicated his entire career to Wellness & Health Promotion with a variety of modalities which are lifestyle driven and has over 37 years of Clinical, Academic and Leadership experience. He is currently the Executive Medical Director of SoCal Wellness in San Diego, California where he continues to mentor, teach & empower his patients regarding the merits of comprehensive wellness, fitness, sensible nutrition, healthy lifestyle choices, social connections and responsible accountability for one's health. Dr. Joachim was formerly affiliated with UNC School of Medicine in Chapel Hill, N.C. and UC-Davis Medical Center as an-Adjunct Assistant Professor & Clinical Instructor. Additionally, Dr. Joachim is a former Tactical Physician Operator for the Wilmington (NC) Police Dept. SWAT Team where he directed the Tactical Medicine Program and participated in over 125 "Call-Outs" as a Physician and Sworn Law Enforcement Officer.
